Convention details
Bishop Cathleen Bascom has announced that the 163rd Annual Convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Kansas will take place Oct. 21-22, at Grace Cathedral, Topeka.
Deadline for Nominations and Convention Business
Pursuant to canon, Bishop Bascom has established Friday, Aug. 5 as the deadline to submit any of the following items that might come before the convention:
Elections
Nominations for those being elected at the convention:
- One lay and one clergy at-large member of the Council of Trustees. Marilyn Trubey and the Rev. Doreen Rice are eligible for reelection.
- Four lay and four clergy deputies to the 81st General Convention in summer 2024. Four alternates for each order will be elected from the same slate. Elected deputies and alternates also serve as deputies to the Province VII Synod.

In addition to these elections, the convention will be affirming the elections of the Lay Convocation Representatives to the Council of Trustees who will be elected at Convocation meetings in September. Contact your Convocation President for information about these positions.
Amendments to the Constitution or Canons of the Diocese
The current constitution and canons are available on the diocesan website. Proposed amendments should be sent to Frank Taylor at ftaylor@hrkklaw.com.
Debatable Resolutions
Debatable resolutions should be sent to Deacon Oliver Bunker at oliverf.bunker@gmail.com.
Draft Mission Plan
The May 19, 2022 Draft of the 2023 Mission Plan and apportionment schedule is available for review.
Voting members of convention are invited to discuss the May 19, 2022 draft at summer convocation meetings and to send feedback to the Council of Trustees through Convocation Representatives ahead of Mission Plan finalization at the August 24, 2022 meeting of the Council.
