About our Search for the Eleventh Bishop of the Diocese of Kansas

On April 4, 2025, Bishop Cathleen Bascom, the tenth bishop of Kansas, announced her retirement and called for the election of the eleventh bishop of Kansas. This call initiated a search process led by the Council of Trustees. On this page, you will find updates, communications, and information from the Council and the search process subcommittees that will be formed. The Council of Trustees invites your prayers for the diocese and the search process.

Following Bishop Bascom’s retirement on January 31, 2026, the Council of Trustees, acting as the Standing Committee, took over as ecclesiastical authority in the Diocese of Kansas. To communicate with the Council of Trustees during this time without a bishop, please e-mail cot@episcopal-ks.org.
