Harvest Spring 2022

The Risen Jesus pours forth God’s love, but our lives are also meant to be conduits of it. Each one of us can be part of the momentum of transformation! Each of us can be like a small air turbo, spreading the Jesus movement, ushering God’s new heaven and new earth into our own unique workplace, family, neighborhood, or school.

A little something happening at the parishes in the diocese…

AMID CONVERSATIONS about whether churches should abandon online worship options developed because of COVID-19 or keep them, a small church in the Diocese of Kansas found that its online presence has not only kept its community together during the pandemic but has also attracted new people, some of them living hundreds of miles away. And in what may be a first for The Episcopal Church, the congregation elected an online member to its vestry.

St. David’s Church hosted a neighborhood Lenten program built around the Sacred Ground curriculum and brought together three churches from Topeka’s west side.

It brings me great excitement to announce the hiring of Dr. Donald Livingston as Organist of Grace Cathedral. His first Sunday with us will be June 26, 2022.

On December 18, 2021, the people of St. Michael and All Angels in Mission, KS gathered at the church in Spencer Hall, named for its first and founding rector, to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the parish. The banquet featured a dinner, a slide show presentation highlighting each decade of the church’s history, and special guests.

The diocese returns to a new normal throughout the season of Lent and into Easter.

The 2022 Martin Luther King Jr. Day March and Celebration in Atchison are only one part of the most recent chapter of the story of Dr. King’s legacy and impact on our city and her faith communities.

In the Fall of 2021, a small group of people at St. Thomas felt called to respond to the flood of Afghan people that evacuated to the United States. The Kansas City metro area received more than 3000 people as part of this evacuation.
