Support Youth and Young Adult Ministries for Giving Tuesday

GivingTuesday is a Movement that Unleashes the Power of Radical Generosity Around the World.

GivingTuesday reimagines a world built upon shared humanity and generosity.

Our global network collaborates year-round to inspire generosity around the world, with a common mission to build a world where generosity is part of everyday life.

Whether it’s making someone smile, helping a neighbor or stranger out, showing up for an issue or people we care about, or giving some of what we have to those who need our help, every act of generosity counts, and everyone has something to give.

How can you support Youth and Young Adult Ministry in Kansas this Giving Tuesday?

What impact do these programs have?
I grew up as an Episcopal youth in the Diocese of Kansas and can attest to the profound impact these programs have on people’s lives. I started attending Camp as a 6th grader and continued my involvement through the end of high school. I was a brand-new Episcopalian when I started, and it’s what solidified my connection to the Episcopal Church for a lifetime. I still have friends that I went to camp with, and even married a fellow Episcopal camper! ~Karen Schlabach

Our young people talk about the great friends they make at these events and the accepting community where they can be themselves. Parents recognize that these programs are life-giving and nourishing. Young people feel loved and valued, gain confidence, and grow closer to God.

Why do we ask for monetary donations?
Did you know all of our youth events are expected to break-even? The registration fee must cover all the costs, including for the adult volunteers who we don’t ask to pay since they are volunteering their time. Donations help pay for scholarships so everyone can attend, even if they can’t afford it on their own. Can you provide a scholarship for a weekend retreat ($60) or summer camp ($525)?

We want the Canterbury Houses to be a welcoming place for our college students, a place that shows them “We care about you.” The budget covers the Canterbury Houses’ day-to-day expenses, but when we need to redo the kitchen floor because half the tiles are cracked, replace a broken dishwasher, paint the exterior, or redo the roof, we rely on a rapidly dwindling savings account to help us cover those costs. Your donation of $50, $100, or $500 can help us replenish and grow this resource to make sure the houses continue to be available for future generations.
