Episcopal Churches in Kansas Celebrate Pride Month

The Episcopal Church has a “legacy of inclusion, aspiring to tell and exemplify God’s love for every human being.” And in that spirit, Episcopal Churches in the dioceses of Kansas and West Missouri will participate in Pride parades, celebrations, and liturgies in Kansas City, Lawrence, Emporia, and Topeka during June of 2025.

Churches from the Dioceses of Kansas and West Missouri will come together for Kansas City Pride 2025 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Kansas City for a Pride Eucharist ahead of the Pride Parade on Saturday, June 7. Time is TBD. Afterwards, those who wish to march in the parade will walk from St. Paul’s to Westport to line-up. Full details on Episcopal participation in Kansas City Pridefest can be found here.

St. Margaret’s, Lawrence will participate in Lawrence Pride on June 7.

St. Andrew’s, Emporia has participated in the community’s local Pride Parade since it began four years ago. The church is located on the parade route, so members set up a table with snacks, and water, and enjoy offering hospitality and welcome to those visiting and participating in the parade. The church will participate in Pride again this year on June 22.

St. Paul’s, Manhattan has participated in Pride since 2022. Each year, members of the church march in the parade, carrying a banner from the church, and distributing pride flags along the way. The church also staffs a table at the festival, giving out juice boxes, snacks, buttons, and information about the Episcopal Church, St. Paul’s parish, and the Canterbury House Campus Ministry at Kansas State University.

And this year St. David’s, Topeka is one of ten Topeka congregations participating in a community Interfaith Worship Service for Topeka’s Pride Palooza.  The service will be on Sunday, June 22, at 11 am at The Beacon. 420 SW 9th St Topeka, KS 66612.
