Bishop says masks are not required for vaccinated people during services

On May 14 Bishop Cathleen Bascom issued the following statement in response to the latest guidelines on mask-wearing from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:

Yesterday, the CDC released new guidelines concerning masks, stating that vaccinated individuals do not need to wear masks indoors or outdoors.

With this in mind, and after consulting with medical advisors, we will make the following changes effective immediately:

Vaccinated individuals will not need to wear masks during church services.

The exception for this will be that all will continue to wear masks while singing.

Non-vaccinated people will continue to be required to wear masks during indoor services. It is highly recommended that non-vaccinated people wear an N-95 mask for their own protection.

As more information comes forth, we will continue to update the diocese’s requirements.
