March 27, 2026
Dear beloveds in Christ,
The Search Committee has completed its preparation for the next phase of the bishop search, and the application period will reopen on April 6th.
The Council of Trustees has approved the following timeline:
- April 6, 2026 — Application period reopens; updated profile and materials will be available at https://episcopal-ks.org/episcopal-diocese-of-kansas-bishop-search/
- May 11, 2026 — Application period closes. A petition process is not currently planned.
- October 23–24, 2026 — Electing Convention, Grace Cathedral, Topeka
- April 17, 2027 — Ordination and Consecration, Grace Cathedral, Topeka. Presiding Bishop Sean Rowe will officiate.
We are grateful for everyone who has offered themselves to this discernment — those who came forward in the first phase, and those who may be called to come forward now. To present oneself for this kind of scrutiny and vulnerability is a profound act of faith, and we do not take that gift lightly.
The Search Committee continues its careful and faithful work. The Council of Trustees continues to work closely with diocesan staff to support the life and ministry of this diocese through this season. We are grateful for your prayers, and we ask for your continued patience as we move forward together.
Please direct questions to cot@episcopal-ks.org.
We continue to pray:
Almighty God, giver of every good gift: Look graciously on your church, and so guide the hearts and minds of those who search for a new bishop to lead the Episcopal Diocese of Kansas, that we may receive a faithful pastor, who will care for your people and equip us for our ministries; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Faithfully,
