The diocesan Search Committee for the XI Bishop of Kansas is delighted to announce the publication of the diocesan bishop search profile. The profile is a critical step in a search for a new bishop because it articulates the specific needs, hopes, and character of the diocese, guiding the search committee to find a leader who is a good fit for the community’s unique history, challenges, and future.
The Very Rev. Torey Lightcap, co-chair of the Search Committee, said, “We have endeavored to produce a profile that is realistic, honest, and reflective of our best hopes as Christians seeking our next bishop.
“The search now goes into the hands of the people of this diocese. We highly encourage everyone to read the profile, pray over it, and seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit. You may feel nudged to send it on to someone you know, or even to more than one person. Ask them to read it carefully, and to pray over it as well – do they see themselves reflected in it?
“My co-chair Scott Howard and I want to thank everyone who participated in getting us to this point in the process, especially the Profile subcommittee of the whole Search Committee, the diocesan Standing Committee, and our denominational search facilitator, Anne Schmidt. We also extend gratitude to Melodie Woerman, who provided invaluable editorial input, and to Chad Senuta, who brought everything into one coherent presentation.”
The profile can be viewed on the diocesan website here. News and updates about the bishop search process can be found on the Bishop Search page of the diocesan website.
