The constitution and canons are the documents that govern the workings of parishes and entities within the diocese. Each document has been adopted by action of the Diocesan Convention and can be amended only by vote of convention.

Amendments to the constitution require an affirmative vote in two consecutive conventions, the clergy and lay delegates voting separately. Amendments to the canons can be adopted by majority vote of one convention, with lay delegates and clergy voting together.
