happening #83

Can Christianity penetrate the reality of a teenager’s world today?

The Happening movement thinks so. It proposes no new type of spirituality, but it does provide a method through which one’s spirituality may be developed, lived, and shared in fellowship with Christians willing to dedicate their lives to God in an on-going manner.

What is Happening?

Happening is a weekend retreat put on "by teens for teens." The program is focused on the person and teachings of Jesus Christ and centered on youth sharing their experiences and faith with other youth. Happening participants hear talks from youth and adult leaders on topics such as identity, reality, prayer, faith, piety, and discipleship. Participants also spend time in small groups discussing the talks and engaged in activities. And of course there's lots of time for worship, singing, games, and fun.

When do participants arrive and depart?

Registration begins at 6:00 p.m. on Friday night. Participants should eat dinner before arriving. Happening concludes around 4 pm on Sunday.

What to bring

We sleep on the floor of the church, so bring an air mattress or sleeping pad, sleeping bag, blankets, etc. Toiletries and clothes of course. We discourage bringing food (there will be tons of snacks!). We also encourage participants to leave watches and cell phones at home.
