If you are considering the priesthood If you are interested in exploring a possible vocation as a priest in the Episcopal Church as a member of the Diocese of Kansas, there are a number of steps that must take place. To help you understand this process, each step is outlined more fully: To apply as a nominee (someone who is just beginning the discernment process to become a priest) To apply as a postulant (a major canonical step in the process) To apply as a candidate (the canonical step prior to ordination) To apply for ordination as a transitional deacon (after candidacy requirements and seminary education have been completed) To apply for ordination as a priest (after the canonical period as a transitional deacon has been completed) Note that each of these steps outlined here includes instructions as well as links to forms you or someone else will need to complete and submit. These forms are produced in PDF format with interactive fields, wherever possible. This means they can be completed by typing onto the form, then printing it and submitting it as directed. Be certain to keep a copy of all forms you submit, for your own files. If you don't already have Acrobat Reader, which is needed to view PDF documents, a free copy of it can be downloaded here. If you have any questions about this process, please consult a member of the clergy in your parish first. Additional questions may be directed to the Rev. Mary Siegmund, canon to the ordinary for the diocese, who oversees the ordination process.
